Victor Sarkett, a 3rd grader from the Class of 2035 at Bridges Elementary School in Gilbert, has already built a love for football that runs far deeper than most kids his age. His journey started in the backyard, tossing the ball with his dad, and soon turned into a full-blown passion after watching games on TV. He joined a team, and it didn’t take long for him to discover his favorite position: wide receiver. On the field, Victor thrives running routes, making catches, and celebrating touchdowns with his teammates.

What Victor enjoys most about being a wide receiver is the team aspect, the thrill of running fast, and catching the football at all costs. He loves the variety of routes he gets to run and the challenge of getting open for his quarterback. For Victor, the best part is playing with friends and sharing the excitement of the game. He understands what it takes to excel as a receiver—discipline, precise routes, strong hands, sharp footwork, body control, and the trust between a quarterback and wide receiver.

Victor draws inspiration from NFL stars like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs for their speed, strength, smart plays, and community involvement. His all-time favorite player is Barry Sanders, whose agility and hands amazed him even decades later. Victor dreams of catching the ball like Sanders—seemingly floating past defenders with effortless speed.

Outside football, Victor is a multi-sport athlete, excelling in soccer as a goalie like his dad and enjoying basketball. He also loves video games, reading Dog Man and Big Nate, collecting football and Pokémon cards, and spending time with family, friends, and pets. Hawaii is his favorite getaway, where he enjoys collecting seashells and watching sea turtles. Board games and Uno are also on his list of favorite pastimes.

Victor enjoys the friendly competition of camp, learning from coaches, and working to improve his skills. His short-term goals include running routes cleaner, making more over-the-shoulder catches, and improving his speed. Long-term, he wants to master all routes, make big catches in real games, and get stronger through continued training.

Pre-game routines are important to Victor. He warms up with jogging, stretching, and practice catches, and he likes to visualize making big plays. He usually wears something blue for good luck, a nod to his family’s Michigan pride. His dad, Coach Jeremiah, has been his most important mentor, teaching him techniques, building his confidence, and showing him drills that make practice fun.

For other kids starting football, Victor’s advice is simple: don’t fear mistakes, have fun, listen to your coaches, and practice consistently—even in your backyard.

Even in the off-season, Victor stays active. He continues speed and agility classes, practices catching daily, works on routes at home, and does footwork drills. Playing multiple sports keeps him quick and strong. Recently, he won his first flag football ring with the Legends of Arizona Club, earning a spot on the 9U Elite Team. Victor made a huge touchdown in his second game and contributed on both offense and defense, a proud moment that highlights his talent and work ethic.

Victor Sarkett is a young wide receiver with talent, passion, and focus. He will be competing at the 8th Annual Giovando X Wide Receiver Magazine Camp on January 3-4 in Phoenix, AZ, where he’ll continue developing his skills and showcasing his abilities. With dedication on the field and a strong support system at home, his journey is just beginning—but he’s already making plays that stand out.
